WHAT WORRIES AMERICANS: CORONA OR MONPOX?
An opinion poll showed that Americans are more concerned about the Coronavirus than the monkeypox virus.
The poll, which was published by the American "Fox News" network, Friday evening, showed that 55 percent of Americans are very concerned about the Coronavirus that causes "Covid-19", which is a relatively constant number since last May and is down by 17 points compared to January. Last time the percentage was around 72 percent.
In contrast, 45 percent of Americans expressed concern about the monkeypox virus, while the majority, estimated at 54 percent, declared that they do not care about the virus.
This announcement comes despite the United States declaring, a few days ago, a public health emergency, with the outbreak of the monkeypox virus in the country. T
he American decision came after the World Health Organization declared a global emergency regarding this epidemic.
Official figures in America say that the number of people infected with the monkeypox virus exceeded 10,000, as of Friday.
However, the number appears to be relatively low with Corona patients, who have “plagued the country” since the beginning of 2020, according to “Fox News,” as it infected 92 million and ended the lives of more than a million Americans.
Monkeypox, a viral disease discovered several months ago, is somewhat similar to the well-known smallpox disease, and is transmitted as a result of contact with infected people or infected animals, or touching contaminated tools, while the Coronavirus is transmitted through respiratory droplets in the air.
Monkeypox causes a rash on the body, as well as fever, feeling unwell, and muscle aches, but it appears to have less human casualties so far compared to Corona.
